Netarts ('knee-tarts)

An unincorporated community in Tillamook County, Oregon; built on a strip of sand between pristine Netarts Bay and forests of spruce, hemlock, and pine; population roughly 1200, with about 650 full time residents. Estimated per capita income in 2008: $24,065.

Netartian (knee-'tar-shun): an all-weather resident of Netarts; a person whose belief system can be summed up in the following two axioms: 1) It's not really raining unless bullets of water are being driven at you horizontally by gale-force winds, and 2)The only truly serious problems in life are those that can't be solved with caulk, beer or wine, duct tape, a blue or brown tarp, and a neighborly hand.
